Contract Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week
Salary: Grade 9 – Salary £32,020 - £33,820
Location: Fire Service Headquarters, Hull (Hybrid working available)
Closing Date: 12 noon, 31st October 2023
One of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service’s core principles is innovation, and we are investing in our systems to help us achieve that aim. We need help to develop and maintain some of our key Service mapping applications and risk models. We want someone who can help to create new content and present it to our users in a method that’s easy to understand. This will enable us to reach and support the most vulnerable people and businesses in our area. The post holder can be secure in the knowledge that their work is contributing to the health and wellbeing of the community in which they live and work.
Ideally, previous experience of having undertaken similar roles in the past would be beneficial. But, if you have worked with any of our systems before, have administered geospatial platforms, written ETL processes, or are comfortable handling data from SQL Server we’d be interested in talking to you.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service primarily uses ESRI and Cadcorp, but MapInfo skills would also be considered. Custom applications are typically written in Python so if you have a working knowledge of this, that would be perfect. We’d also like you to understand the fundamentals of Extract Transform Load (ETL) and the efficient processing of information.
It is important that you are confident in managing your own workload, can work on multiple projects and have a calm, collected work approach, even when things get busy. We would really like you to be enthusiastic and self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ approach, putting innovation at the forefront of everything you do.
In return, the Service offers a range of benefits including training, flexible working, Local Government Pension Scheme, free parking and use of gymnasium facilities at Service Headquarters.
