Contract Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week

Salary: Grade 9 – Salary £32,020 - £33,820

Location: Fire Service Headquarters, Hull (Hybrid working available)

Closing Date: 12 noon, 31st October 2023

At Humberside Fire and Rescue it is our goal to provide the best possible service for our community in order to support vulnerable people and businesses in our area. To carry out that work it is important that we strive for innovation and one of the leading aspects of that is through IT. The post holder can be sure their work is contributing to the wellbeing of the local community.

Previous experience in a development role would be ideal but if you have worked in a DevOps environment, with APIs, or with low-code tools for development such as Microsoft’s Power platform then we would be interested in talking to you.

On a daily basis you could be working with DAX, T-SQL, C#, Python and JavaScript so having an understanding of good programming principles is favourable. An understanding of DevOps practices is also beneficial to help maintain well documented repositories, utilise version control, and to ensure redundancy when working as part of the team with services like Git. Knowledge of software lifecycle principles from planning to testing is also valuable.

It is important that you are confident in managing your own workload, can work on multiple projects and have a calm, collected work approach. Being able to estimate how much work you can sustain is also a valuable skill and knowing when to delegate and prioritise when things get busy helps too. We would really like you to be enthusiastic and self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ approach, putting innovation at the forefront of everything you do.

In return, the Service offers a range of benefits including flexible working, training, Local Government Pension Scheme, free parking and use of gymnasium facilities at Service Headquarters.
