Claire Barnett

Claire is Executive Director at UN Women UK. UN Women is the only global organisation working to make gender equality a reality in every sphere of society, from delivering grassroots programmes to reach the most vulnerable, to designing behaviour changes programmes with society’s influencers, and helping governments to create more gender-equal legislation. Its mission is to ensure every woman has an equal right and opportunity to Safety, Choice, and a Voice.

Prior to joining UN Women, Claire served commercial and pro bono clients at McKinsey & Company. She worked on strategy, operations and organisational culture for billion-dollar companies worldwide. Claire was instrumental in driving the McKinsey UK work on diversity and inclusion, including authoring the much-cited publication The Power of Parity, examining the macroeconomic effect of accelerating gender equality, on GDP and beyond. She holds a Masters degree from the University of Oxford, examining the history and interplay between individualism, western religion, sexuality and gender. She owns a boutique fitness business in north London.

Claire personal passion is bringing people together behind a single movement for change, under UN Women's mandate as the global convener for equality. Because our voices are louder when we raise them together.
