Vicky Shakesby
Vicky was one of the first women to join Humberside Fire Brigade, as it was then known, in 1994. She was the first Full-Time female Firefighter to join the Service.
Having qualified to become Lead Firefighter (LFf) in her first four years of service, she was later promoted in to Staff section in 1998.
Vicky has served at all of the stations in the service and has moved through the ranks operationally throughout her 27 year-long career.
In addition to assisting Women in the Fire Service (WFS) by contributing to national committees to discuss topics such as female fire fit and general support for women in the fire service, she also organised for a group of fire service women to climb Mount Kilimanjaro; raising over £30,000 in the process.
Vicky received an MBE in the New Years Honours list of 2007 for Outstanding Contribution to Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.
