Charity Skydive

24 July 2014

A team from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is taking part in a sponsored skydive to raise money for charity. The team of nine, which includes the Chief Fire Officer, will complete the jump on Tuesday 2 September with the guidence of the Red Devils.

The chosen charities are:

The Fire Fighters Charity“The Fire Fighters Charity is the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire fighters, fire personnel and their families to aid emotional recuperation and help those who have suffered injury, illness, stress or bereavement. Over the years, we have helped hundreds of thousands of individuals. It costs £9 million a year to keep the Charity running and with no government funding we are completely reliant on the generosity and enthusiasm of our supporters.” To donate to this charity click here

St Andrews Children’s Hospice in Grimsby“For patients with a life-limiting illness, there comes a point when we accept that no cure is possible and care becomes palliative, ensuring that the patient is able to make the best of each day they have, and where quality is more important than quantity. The care we deliver at St Andrew’s is different to that which people usually experience in hospital. In many ways, we turn the clinical model on its head, because our focus is on not only the physical, but also the emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients and their families. We acknowledge that the person who is the best judge of what those needs are is the patient themself.” To donate to this charity click here

The Afghan Trust“Helping our Heroes Set up in 2007 as a registered charity to cater for the wounded and families of those killed in action during the Para’s first tour of duty in Afghanistan, the Afghanistan Trust supports the wounded, their families and the families of those killed in action from all four of the Parachute Regiment’s battalions. (1 PARA, 2 PARA, 3 PARA and 4 PARA). The charity provides immediate and longer-term welfare assistance to complement or fill the gaps in welfare provided by the State and/or other charities.” To donate to this charity click here
