East Riding Councillors visit HQ
4 December 2014
Humberside Fire and Rescue headquarters played host to a group of East Riding Councillors today who toured the facilities with ER Community Safety Manager Steve Hellewell.
Following a request from members of the ER Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Steve arranged for the group to see various aspects of the modern rescue role of today’s fire service. They had shown particular interest over the last year or so in areas such as Emergency First Response, water rescue and the Community Interest Company HFR Solutions.
A full afternoon included a rope rescue demonstration by East Hull, a briefing on latest techniques to identify hazardous materials and a look at flood rafts and an Emergency First Responder vehicle.
The day was rounded off with a tour of the new state of the art control suite. SM Hayley Jackson (pictured right) showed the group how the latest GPS software and intelligence shared by partner agencies are improving the information sent to crews en route to incidents.
