An exciting vacancy has arisen for the challenging but rewarding post of Learning and Development Technician within the Training and Development Department. We are a dedicated team within the fire service, focused on ensuring our personnel are trained to the highest standards, ready to serve our community.

Being at the forefront of integrating technology with fire service training, our digital L&D team ensures that our personnel are trained with cutting-edge, computer-based maintenance of competence across the full service, this is delivered in multiple disciplines and with a broad range of blended material, some examples of the role requirements for delivery are:

  • Design, develop, and deliver computer-based fire service training modules.
  • Manage and maintain our online learning platforms.
  • Collaborate with firefighting teams to digitise traditional training content.
  • Evaluate digital training effectiveness and make necessary revisions.
  • Stay updated with the latest in National Operational Guidance, Fire Standards, Maturity Models, e-learning trends, and software tools.

Essential criteria:

The post holder should have excellent communication skills and a thorough knowledge within videography, 3D design, and multimedia, or proven experience in developing E-learning content and Competency Management Systems. Candidates require excellent ICT skills (preferred Microsoft 365 knowledge). They should be capable of problem solving with limited support, within timescales and agreed budgets. They will have a thorough understanding of service competency requirements and develop our competence recording systems to support them accordingly. In addition, be expected to produce high quality E-Learning materials that meet service need.
