Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Humberside Fire and Rescue is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
We have completed a round of fixes and with all outstanding accessibility issues falling into disproportionate burden, these are listed below.
Disproportionate burden
Images and Media
Decorative images have informative alternative text which is announced by screen readers.
Combined images and links have informative alternative text and are announced twice by screen readers.
Embedded multimedia does not have an appropriate label.
Navigation and Accessing Information
Tab order is not logical across many pages when using a keyboard or mobile screen reader to navigate.
It is not possible to dismiss content which appears upon hover or tab focus.
It’s not possible for users to change text size without some of the content overlapping.
On high zoom with a small browser window, the content does not reflow into one column.
Assistive Technology
Some of our form fields are difficult to navigate using a screen reader because some form elements are not grouped and focus is not redirected as expected upon submission.
When using a screen reader, status messages after submission are not consistently announced to users.
Using speech recognition software prevents status messages from displaying.
We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with Images and Media, Navigation and Accessing Information, and with Assistive Technology. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment within our next budget review, likely to be in financial year of 2023/2024.
