Contract: Permanent, Hybrid Working (3 days office based, 2 days at home) 37 hours a week

Salary: Grade 9 (£35,235 to £37,035)

Location: Fire Service Headquarters, Summergroves Way, Hull

Section: Digital Services Team (Digital Innovation Team)

No two days are the same at Humberside Fire and Rescue. From designing data import processes in the morning to troubleshooting slow running T-SQL in the afternoon, adaptability, and the ability to prioritise tasks based on business needs are crucial.

The Digital Services Team comprises of Innovation, Solutions and Assurance departments, this role is in the Digital Innovation Team and highlighted green below.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate any of the below skills.

Current skills

  1. Experience of writing new and improving existing ETL pipelines. (HFRS have a mixture of SSIS and Python)
  2. Knowledge of structuring data to maximise performance and insights.
  3. Comfortable accessing SQL Server databases including T-SQL queries and stored procedures.

The role also includes the elements below and we are comfortable if you don’t possess all of them initially but require you to have the ability to learn them through supported personal development.

Ability to learn

  1. Knowledge of Data Warehouse schemas.
  2. Knowledge of assisting to create scoping, requirement, and specification documents as part of stakeholder engagement. Translating requirements into clear user stories to be worked on.
  3. Overview of GIS systems and handling Geospatial data.
  4. Experience of using Azure or similar cloud-based technologies including Azure Data Factory.
  5. Ability to provide system support for both new and existing development.
  6. Understanding of Python scripting for the production of ETL scripts.
  7. Overview of agile project management including sprints, user stories and breaking down projects into smaller tasks. (HFRS run weekly sprints using Scrum methodologies)
