Applications are invited from competent On Call Crew Managers to fill a current Watch Manager job opportunity, at Preston Fire Station.
The Service is looking for an individual who will put our communities first, act with integrity, dignity and respect and be positive role models, actively promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
Applicants must be an experienced, substantive Crew Manager, in either duty system
To be considered for this process, applicants will need to provide or evidence the following:
Essential criteria:
• Line Manager endorsement
• Evidence of working within your community with under-represented groups
• An excellent understanding of the Management and Audit of the On-Call system
• A minimum 70-hour contract
• A current Performance Development Review
• An up-to-date PDRpro account (a printout of the summary will suffice)
• To have completed Incident Command Level 1 Foundation
• Hold an in-date fitness test at the point of application*
• Have no outstanding disciplinary or performance sanctions*
*These will form part of the pre-employment screening process undertaken by HR.
Desirable criteria:
• Hold IOSH Working Safely qualification
Selection process:
• Expression of interest (comprising of a maximum of 750 words), stating your current role, your relevant experience and why you are interested in the role of Watch Manager. This should be submitted, together with the supporting evidence above, to the HR team (HR@humbersidefire.gov.uk) by 12 noon on 11 August 2025
• Please ensure you include your line manager and Station Manager in your covering email.
• Interviews will be specific to technical knowledge of the On-Call Duty System as well as being people-focused. This process will be facilitated within the East Riding district by local SMs and HR.
• Interviews are anticipated to take place week commencing 18 August 2025, with a view to taking up the role on 1 September 2025
