Humberside Fire and Rescue Service attended the Hull Science Festival on Saturday 15 September to prove that they just don’t just put out fires!
HFRS showcased 2 of their special appliances, the Incident Command Unit and the Detection Identification Monitoring Vehicle.
Families entered the Incident Command Unit to see the latest technology and how Senior Officers command and control at major incidents.
Hazardous Materials Advisors demonstrated how the Service uses scientific principles to keep firefighters and the public safe at incidents. Using every day household substances, they demonstrated the techniques available to test for corrosive materials.
Ready, steady, go! Children and parents took on the Fire Kit Challenge. The scene was set, the public raced to get the kit on to attend a house fire to save communities! The children loved playing Firefighter and left wanting to be our future and join the HFRS work family one day!
Safer Roads Humber used virtual reality to demonstrate the importance of not using mobile phones whilst driving. Families took part in the beer goggle game which showed how drinking alcohol can affect your abilities whilst driving.
Families and staff really enjoyed this fantastic experience ... so, come on! Follow HFRS on Facebook to see what event they will be attending next!
