On this page you will find a summary of the messages of thanks we have received in 2026.

January

I just wanted to say thank you to yourself and Bridlington Fire Station. The station very kindly put on a guard of honour as the funeral cars passed which was amazing and very much appreciated. We both know Ray would have loved this wonderful gesture! Two of Ray's former colleagues from the station also attended and it was great to meet them. I would very much appreciate it if you could thank all involved for arranging this, it certainly helped to give Ray the send off he deserved.

To Hull F.I.R.S.T. the team were absolutely amazing and organised. I suffer from PTSD and anxiety, and the team were helpful, reassuring, kind, wonderful! Their approach was fantastic and she put my mind at rest so much.

To Prevention, just a quick email to thank the team for delivering the safety talk this morning. All of us learnt a lot from you, even those of us who (wrongly) thought we were reasonably safety conscious so I’m sure you did a lot of good. From Portobello Leisure Day.

To the Goole Fire Station, thank you for refloating the "Aquaholic" boat on the free berths canal side Smith Boat Yard, on the evening of the 15/1/26. A job well done. Give them all a raise. From Associated British Ports.

To Barton On-Call Fire Station, I was involved in a collision on the A15 on the 14 January I was driving a white Renault traffic van and collided with a Vauxhall Adam that had lost control after hitting a patch of ice. I would like to express my deepest thanks to all that attended, your professionalism and care both to myself and the young lady in the Vauxhall was second to none. Both of us escaped unscathed thankfully although both a little shaken from the experience it is so reassuring to know that we are fortunate enough to have such help and assistance from the fire service should it ever be needed needed. Please pass my sincere thanks to all your team and again thank you all very much.

To the Road Safety Team, Thank you very much for attending our young farmers meeting. We really appreciate you giving up your time to come and talk to the club. Thank you. Brandesburton Young Farmers Club.

Dear Road Safety Team, Thank you very much for attending our young farmers meeting. We really appreciate you giving up your time to come and talk to the club. Thank you. Brandesburton Young Farmers Club.

To Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, As His Majesty's Lord‑Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire, I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Humberside Fire and Rescue for the swift and decisive actions in response to the tragic incident in Withernsea. I am deeply grateful for the professionalism, courage, and calm leadership shown by all involved during such an exceptionally challenging and distressing situation. The coordinated efforts demonstrated outstanding dedication to public safety and care for those affected. Although the impact of this incident will be felt for some time, the continued commitment and resilience are profoundly reassuring. The determination and teamwork displayed across all emergency services are truly commendable and greatly respected. Please convey my heartfelt appreciation to every member of your team who contributed to this operation. Their service in the face of such a devastating event deserves the highest recognition. My thoughts remain with the families, friends, and all those affected by the tragic loss of three lives. This is an immense sorrow for the community, and I offer my deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this incident.

I want to say a big thank you to everybody at Service Headquarters for the lovely retirement gifts and cards that I received, I have a lot of mementoes and memories to treasure of my time and the people I worked with. Thank you all and take care - Spud.

To Road Safety Team, I just wanted to say thank you for this afternoon's session. Students were very keen to talk about how impactful they found the talk and especially the videos. I really appreciate you taking the time to come and deliver this session to our year 7 students. Thanks again, and have a lovely evening. St Mary's College.

To Prevention Team, My husband and I opened our front door to a cheerful person,  who had come to install smoke alarms in our home. They had a very polite manner. Prior to the smoke alarm installation, she went round our home with us checking everywhere where there were electric plugs, devices, adaptors, fire risks, etc - even the toaster tray was pulled out to advise us to empty this of crumbs. We were very impressed with her knowledge and excellent communication skills. They seemed to have an empathy with elderly people and explained thoroughly why one adaptor would be better than another. They came equipped with her step ladder and very quickly and efficiently installed the smoke alarms. We did appreciate her caring attitude and efficiency - we think she is a good representative for the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.

To Road Safety Team, As an “ex” Blue Light provider it was refreshing to listen to experienced professionals provide such an absorbing an interesting presentation to what was a varied audience. All salient points were covered and knowledge checked to ensure learning had taken place. Thanks again to all concerned and to Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, Safer Roads Humber for continuing to support such a worthwhile initiative!

To Prevention and Peaks Lane Fire Station, I just wanted to email and thank you for coming to school and for bringing the fire engine. You all were absolutely brilliant with our pupils and we were blown away by the kindness shown - nothing was any trouble! Our pupils had a fantastic experience and we are truly grateful that you were able to support us in offering them this opportunity.

To Peaks Lane Station Green and Red Watch, I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the crews who attended three incidents alongside EMAS over the past two days in the Grimsby area. All incidents were to assist ourselves with extricating critically ill patients from residential addresses. One incident was yesterday afternoon, one yesterday evening and the other this morning. All crews showed true professionalism, willingness to help, fantastic communication and patience. From an EMAS perspective we were all in agreement that their assistance and expertise was invaluable. We didn't get the chance to thank them at the time, but please do pass on our thanks and appreciation to the attending crews and their managers.

To Prevention and the Road Safety team, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the team from us all at Bridlington School for supporting our Year 12 students with their work experience program this year. We appreciate the time and effort that goes into providing the programme you offer and we hope your experience has also been a good one too. The students were definitely having a great time today despite the rain! Any feedback you have to help us keep improving our programme please email us.

To Preston Fire Station, To the crew who attended our house on Thursday morning near willow waters, you’re the best!! Such a massive thanks it could have been so much worse.

To Road Safety team, The presentation was extremely interesting, enjoyable and we are looking forward to getting a list of other talks the team offer! I look forward to hearing from you all!

To Scunthorpe Fire Station, I’d like to send a massive thank you to one of your teams that came out to my house on Sunday morning after I managed to lock my little boy and my car keys in the car on our drive. My phone was in the car so couldn’t call anyone and the spare set of keys were in the locked house (my husband wasn’t home either - a really unfortunate series of events that were so upsetting) luckily my neighbour heard me and came round and called the fire brigade. The team were here within a matter of minutes, kept me calm and reassured and worked so quickly (and with very limited damage even though I didn’t care what they needed to do!) to get into my house so I could get the spare key. Once my child was out, he was very happy to see a fire engine and the team even let him have a sit in it and so what was a very traumatic experience for me, ended up quite exciting for my child. I really wanted to say thank you to Tim and the rest of the team, they were all amazing and I really appreciate their time.

To Prevention team, I would just like to say a big thank you to who attended Willows Residential home over the last couple of months. They were so professional but understanding and helpful, their knowledge was greatly appreciated. They sent us guidance and pointed us to the correct websites to help us with creating a new SOP. They have worked with us when we have had queries and whilst carrying out work spoken to our maintenance team to advise them. At what could have been quite a difficult time with so many changes to make, they ensured we had full support and shared their knowledge to ensure that The Willows Residential care home is compliant with fire safety.

To East Hull, Blue Watch, I would just like to say thank you for the very helpful Home Safety Visit carried out today. I commend their professionalism.

To Scunthorpe and Winterton Fire Stations, To all those that responded I managed to escape with no broken bones, just a few bruises and some marks from the bar – very lucky really. Thank you to everyone involved, you all did a brilliant job, and the crews were great at keeping me calm while I was stuck.

To Barton Fire Station, Thank you for accommodating me and my mother on a visit for photography on the 24 February. I enjoyed my visit and appreciate the time and the patience spent showing me around the station and appliances.

To Howden Fire Station, Thanks to all the Howden Fire Team for the quick response to the gas bottle job we had in our bungalow at North Howden, on Monday 23 February. Once again, many thanks.

To Prevention and Calvert Lane Fire Station, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Prevention and the team from Calvert Lane Station for our visit today (Wymersley park). The team were fantastic with the kids and the talks were pitched just right. I had some very happy kids today.

To Peaks Lane Fire Station, Thank you so much for Thursday – the children have not stopped talking about your visit! They have made a small book of drawings and messages to thank everyone in attendance which will be sent across.

To Road Safety Team, Thank you for coming in today. The children found these assemblies really beneficial and we would like to rearrange for next year!

April

To Humberside Fire and Rescue Service:,  just wanted to thank the crews on Saturday afternoon when responding to the RTC while I was flying the Helimed 29. I am the Medical Director for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and as a result I am well aware of the challenge that crews faced with this incident and wanted to highlight the skills and professionalism that they demonstrated.

To Prevention, while visiting Southend-on-Sea, Essex, we were alerted to a person in distress on the promenade. One of your cadets asked if she could join me in assisting this person. She was an absolute star, and intelligently kept the person in conversation and made sure they felt safe and comfortable. The person was having intermittent seizures and was quite confused. While we waited for the ambulance, the cadet kept the person calm and observed their vital Information through calm and structured conversation. It was a pleasure and comfort to have assisted this person with the cadet by my side. I attribute her calmness and welfare support to the first-aid and welfare training she learned while with HFRS. Long may it continue.

May

To just a quick email to say thank you for the visit to school on Tuesday to see the children regarding fire safety. The children have said how much they enjoyed it.

To Dan thank you for helping when I had a tumble outside Beverley Arms. You took control and applied a bag of ice to my head and were so helpful and patient.

To Green Watch at Scunthorpe Fire Station I would just wish to say thank you. My friend and I visited the station having made the trip from Teesside and were very kindly shown around each of the appliances, showing us their abilities and sharing experiences using the equipment. The firefighter is an absolute privilege to the Service, and we cannot thank her enough for her time.

To Hull Central Fire Station, please pass on my thanks to the crews that attended my property after my cat got onto the roof. I just panicked and didn't know what to do. I can't believe how quickly the crew arrived after my 999 calls. I feel quite foolish and was very apologetic to all of the crew that attended but they were all very kind. Despite their attempts my cat, Newt, refused to budge and I was more than happy that they'd done all they could. 10 minutes after they left, she came back in. I'm so sorry to have wasted all your time but I am very grateful for the assistance I received. Newt is grounded forever.

To Jamie and the team at Calvert Lane Fire Station, I just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to Jamie and all of his team for the incredible kindness they recently showed my daughter and her friends. Earlier this year our lives changed overnight when I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. After being told I had exhausted treatment options in the UK, I made the difficult decision to travel to India to try further treatment in the hope of giving me more time with my two daughters. One of them is only 9 years old, but since my diagnosis she has been determined to help however she can. She started washing cars to raise money for my treatment because, in her words, she “just wants to help get mummy better.” Watching her stand outside washing cars with such determination and love has been one of the most emotional things for me as a mum. When Jamie invited her to the station to wash a fire engine and allowed her to bring three of her friends along, it honestly meant the world to her. The girls had the most amazing day and have not stopped talking about it since. Jamie and the whole team were absolutely fantastic with them. They made the girls feel so welcome, included and special from the minute they arrived. They laughed with them, encouraged them, showed them around and even treated them to buns and juice.  It was such a thoughtful thing to do and gave her such a huge boost. Then, to our complete surprise, the team handed her £300 in donations and have since transferred another £137. I honestly cannot put into words what that kindness means to us. I am now in India and have started treatment, and every single donation and act of support has helped me get here and begin this journey. During such a frightening and uncertain time, the kindness shown by Jamie, the team and everybody who donated has reminded us just how much goodness there is in people. Please could you pass on my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved and to every person who donated. What you all did for my daughter and for our family will stay with us forever. With love and gratitude, Sarah.
