Today we were proud to welcome 17 new On-Call firefighters into our Humberside Fire family. This event celebrates the dedication and hard work of our newest recruits, who have successfully completed their initial training course and are now ready to serve their local communities.
Over the past few months, our recruits have undergone rigorous training to develop the vital skills required of an On-Call firefighter. From emergency response techniques and trauma care to communication, teamwork and leadership, they have demonstrated the resilience and professionalism needed for the role.
Their achievements reflect the values of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and the important role On-Call firefighters play in protecting communities across the Humber region while balancing the demands of their everyday lives and primary employment.
Firefighter Normington and Firefighter Hartley received the distinguished honour of a silver axe from our Training Instructors, acknowledging their exceptional performance and unwavering determination.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Matt Sutcliffe said: "Our On-Call firefighters play a vital role in protecting their local communities, often balancing their commitment to the Service alongside their primary roles and family lives.
“Today marks an important milestone for our recruits, who have shown dedication and teamwork throughout their training. I would also like to thank our training instructors and colleagues, whose guidance and expertise have helped prepare them for serving their communities.
“I am incredibly proud of what our recruits have achieved and have no doubt they will make a positive impact in the communities we serve.”
The recruits will now join stations at Barton, Beverley, Cleethorpes, Crowle, Epworth, Hornsea, Market Weighton, Patrington, Pocklington, Preston, Scunthorpe, Winterton and Withernsea Fire Stations.
The passing out parade is a celebration of their achievements and a proud moment for the instructors, colleagues, friends and family members who have supported them throughout their training journey.
