Business owners: are you meeting your fire safety responsibilities?
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is reminding businesses, landlords and duty holders of their legal responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This legislation requires a Responsible Person, typically the employer, owner or person in control of a premises, to make sure that fire risk assessments are kept up to date and that all fire precautions are properly maintained. Helping you protect your people, premises and business.
To meet these duties, Responsible Persons must ensure routine maintenance checks of:
- Fire detection and alarm systems
- Emergency lighting
- Fire doors and signage
- Fire fighting equipment
Consistent maintenance makes sure these essential systems operate correctly in an emergency and helps safeguard building occupants.
Our Protection team encourages Responsible Persons to review their maintenance schedules and ensure arrangements remain suitable for the building and the activities taking place inside.
