Fire Stations and teams across the Service have been busy organising a variety of events and activities to support the charity.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides vital physical, mental health and wellbeing support to serving and retired members of the fire and rescue community and their families.

Fire Station Open Days include:

  • The hugely successful Peaks Lane Firefighters Fete, which brought in a remarkable £12,000
  • Brough Fire Station’s Open Day raising £1,220
  • Calvert Lane Fire Station’s Open Day adding £1,442
  • Scunthorpe Fire Station’s Open Day contributing £1,114
  • Pocklington Fire Station’s Open Day adding a further £344.31
  • Preston Fire Station’s Open Day raised £572

Other events held by our Stations raised:

  • Withernsea Fire Station’s friendly RNLI vs Fire Station challenge, which brought in £602
  • Beverley Fire Station’s 10k run added another £979
  • Barton Fire Station’s Barton Bike Night, which raised £319
  • Scunthorpe Fire Station’s Coffee Morning with £178

Chief Fire Officer, Phil Shillito said, “We’re incredibly proud of everyone who has played a part in raising this fantastic amount for The Fire Fighters Charity.

“Whether through open days, community events, or personal challenges, our teams have gone above and beyond to give back to a cause that means so much to us all.”

Alongside these organised events, our staff have also taken on personal challenges to boost the fundraising total even further, demonstrating the dedication and enthusiasm that staff have for supporting such a meaningful cause.

They include taking part in:

  • Great North Run, raising £371
  • Manchester Marathon raising £310
  • Hull 10K in Fire Kit raising £2180
  • Ultra Marathon raising £715

The Fire Fighters Charity relies entirely on donations to continue offering its life-changing support services, and every pound raised by the Service helps ensure that firefighters, control staff, and their families receive the help they need when they need it most.

With more fundraising still to come, the final total is expected to rise further – a true testament to the commitment, teamwork and community spirit at the heart of our Service.
