We were proud to welcome 19 new On-Call firefighters into Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, during a special Passing Out Parade held at Service Headquarters on Tuesday 3 June.

The event marked the culmination of weeks of intensive training and development, celebrating the recruits’ dedication, resilience and commitment to serving their local communities. The recruits represent On-Call fire stations from across the area, including:
- Barton
- Bridlington
- Brough
- Crowle
- Driffield
- Epworth
- Goole
- Hornsea
- Pocklington
- Scunthorpe
- Winterton
The event was opened by Group Manager Claire Tait, Head of Training Delivery and concluded with the presentation of certificates and closing address from Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Matt Sutcliffe. Two Silver Axe awards were presented on the day, recognising outstanding performance throughout the training programme. Congratulations to Harry Moody (Winterton) and Sam Bateman (Hornsea) on receiving this prestigious honour.
Group Manager, Claire Tait praised them for their professionalism during training; “The training demands a great deal from every individual and each of our latest firefighters showed real determination, teamwork and a commitment to learning. We’re incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved and know they will be a real asset to their communities.”
Reflecting on the importance of the occasion, Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Matt Sutcliffe said; “It was a privilege to celebrate this moment with our new On-Call firefighters and their families. Their dedication is inspiring and reminds us of the vital role our On-Call firefighters play in keeping people safe. I look forward to seeing them grow in their roles and make a real difference in the communities they now serve.”
