As part of our ongoing commitment to serving our communities, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has signed up to North Lincolnshire Council’s Fostering Friendly Scheme.

Our fostering-friendly policies, which have been in place for some time, provide support for employees who foster or wish to foster.

Sarah Wilkinson, Head of Prevention, said: “In 2024, we built on this commitment by partnering with the fostering team on several initiatives. These included hosting a bespoke evening with our fire cadets, participating in the Twilight Walk for Foster Care Fortnight, and delivering an interactive team-building session where fostering team members experienced hose drills at our station.

“Supporting young people is central to our mission as a Service. Our fostering-friendly policies and work with the community reflect our commitment to helping shape the futures of children and young people across the area.”

Cllr Julie Reed, Cabinet Member for Children, Families, and Communities, added, “I’m proud to see Humberside Fire and Rescue Service championing all our children in North Lincolnshire, particularly the most vulnerable, by being fostering friendly. They’ve supported our children in care for years and are now actively backing fostering in the community. I look forward to their continued work in 2025.”

Since the scheme’s launch in March 2023, businesses across North Lincolnshire have united to support children and foster carers, demonstrating the importance of fostering across diverse sectors.

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is proud to stand alongside them in this vital effort.
