Statement regarding house fire on Clarence Avenue, Hull:

At 0432 hrs this morning, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service received calls to reports of a house fire on Clarence Avenue, Delhi Street, Hull.

Group Manager Steve Duffield at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said:

“Four fire engines attended the scene, together with Humberside Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

There were four people involved, an adult male and adult female were exiting the house on arrival of the fire engines, and a further two adult males were rescued from the house fire by firefighters using breathing apparatus.

All four individuals were treated for smoke inhalation and burns at the scene and taken to hospital by the attending ambulances. At this moment in time, the cause of the fire has not been established. Fire investigation officers, supported by colleagues from Humberside Police, will be attending the scene today to investigate the cause of the fire.”

Detective Inspector Andy Robinson at Humberside Police said:

“We are working with our colleagues in the fire service to establish the exact cause of the fire, which at this stage is not yet known.

“A full investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire will take place and officers remain in the area to provide reassurance to the community and to speak with anyone who may have information that could help our investigation.

“Any witnesses or anyone with information, who hasn’t yet spoken with our officers at the scene, should call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 88 of today’s date.”
