We are giving a warm welcome to 12 new On-Call firefighters who are now part of the Humberside Fire family.
Our latest recruits proudly demonstrated the skills they've learned in recent weeks in front of their loved ones. Today, they are celebrating the culmination of the skills they've learnt since starting their training course in June earlier this year.
Phil Shillito, Chief Fire Officer, said: “Our On-Call firefighters play a pivotal role within their local community, working around their primary employment to be available to respond to 999 emergencies. They gain many transferrable skills through training to be an On-Call firefighter, including team working, leadership, communication, first aid, trauma care, and much more. The pride and satisfaction in serving the community and being part of this incredible team cannot be underestimated.
“Our Ethical Principles, which reflect the Core Code of Ethics for Fire and Rescue Services, are what make us who we are as an organisation, and this is why the public holds us in high regard. We must all continually strive to build on the trust placed upon us, whether in a vulnerable person's home, helping them to be safe, or involved in rescuing someone from the worst moment of their life.
“Today is the start of a career that is both challenging and rewarding but also brings with it great responsibility. I am so very proud of the dedication and hard work our recruits have shown throughout their training and to watch them pass out from the recruits course.”
We look forward to seeing our new firefighters join their local fire stations and support their communities at:
