Humberside Fire and Rescue Service’s Recognition Awards took place at the MKM Stadium in Hull, on Friday 22 November. This event celebrates outstanding people who have made a difference to those around them.
This year we received 90 nominations across six categories. An independent judging panel had the difficult job of whittling down the nominations to a short list of three within each category.
A special Chief’s Award was presented to a member of staff chosen by Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive, Phil Shillito.
The categories and winners, including sponsors, are below:
- Innovation Award (sponsored by NEC), winner: Glyn Dixon
- Most Influential Person Award, (sponsored by Trans2 Performance), winner: Paul Spurr
- Team of the Year (sponsored by MSA), winners: Peaks Lane Firefighter Fete Committee
- Full-Time/Control Watch of the Year, (sponsored by Scania), winners: Clough Road White Watch
- Colleague of the Year, (sponsored by PBI Performance Products): John Scott
- Unsung Hero Award, (sponsored by Capsticks): Ian Marritt
- Chief Award, (sponsored by Howdens): Anne Stott
Phil Shillito, Chief Fire Officer said, "Celebrating people’s achievements is at the heart of what we do and we’re always exploring new ways to make it even more special. Congratulations to all our nominees, on behalf of the Service, we’re proud to recognise your incredible accomplishments".
140 guests attended the celebration event, which David Hudson hosted.
