After freezing the level for the past five years, Humberside Fire Authority has decided to increase the Council Tax precept by 1.25%.
At its meeting on Monday 15 February 2016, the Fire Authority discussed whether to increase the Council Tax precept for the year 2016-17 or freeze it again at its current level. The Authority ran a six week public consultation during December and January asking for the public’s view on either a freeze or a 1.9% increase. 89% of the 83 respondents indicated that they would be prepared to pay more for their fire cover.
Following a debate at Monday’s meeting there was unanimous Authority support for an increase and a decision was made to raise the precept by 1.25%.
