Unemployed, aged between 16 and 25 and looking to develop your skills to move into training education or employment? Then Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) invites you to attend a taster session to find out what the Prince’s Trust Team programme can offer you.
Since 2011, the partnership between HFRS and the Prince’s Trust has engaged with hundreds of young adults throughout the Grimsby area, helping the students work towards a nationally recognised qualification.
Jamie Morris, Prince’s Trust Manager at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: “The programme is in its fifth year and has helped many young adults gain the confidence, motivation and skills needed to move into employment, education, training, or apprenticeships.
“We are holding some taster sessions, which will give those who are interested in attending, a chance to learn a bit more about the programme as see if it’s something they want to be part of.”
Students who take part in the 12-week full time programme can work towards qualifications including The Prince’s Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills (QCF), Food Safety Level 2, Customer Service Level 2, First Aid, Equality and Diversity, Fire Safety and Road Safety.
Jamie continued: “With a non-judgemental approach, HFRS is uniquely placed to reach young people who might be reluctant to engage with other agencies. The programme really can change people lives. Chris Sinderson, who is from Grimsby, was one of our recent students. When he began with us he was unemployed and struggling to find work. Chris achieved all the qualifications and training the course offered and upon completing he got a job within the food industry. He has now gone onto combine his employment with his recent enrolment into further education. The impact of such an outcome signifies a young person within their local community showing determination and drive to succeed.”
Taster sessions will be held on: Thursday 7 May at 13:30 or Tuesday 12 May at 13.30 at Peaks Lane Fire Station, Grimsby
You must register your interest in advance of the taster sessions, this can be done via the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service’s Prince’s Trust Team Programme Facebook page, by email: email@example.com or by phone: 01482 577897.
