Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is proud to be the first fire service in the UK to achieve the Menopause Friendly Accreditation. This milestone reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.
The Menopause Friendly Accreditation, established by Henpicked: Menopause In The Workplace, recognises high standards and proven practices that embrace menopause in the workplace.
Our Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team has worked closely with staff to create a positive culture around menopause. Key initiatives include:
- Implementing a Menopause Policy to support employees through perimenopause and menopause.
- Hosting awareness workshops and wellbeing events aligned with International Women’s Day.
- Establishing a Menopause Networking Group to encourage open discussions and peer support.
Jordan Kerman, Head of Occupational Health and Wellbeing said, “Our staff have demanding and responsible roles, and we view creating an inclusive workplace not just as a duty, but as an opportunity to support their wellbeing and foster a supportive environment.
“We are very proud to be the first Fire and Rescue Service in the UK to achieve Menopause Friendly Accreditation. This is a major milestone, and we remain committed to continuing our growth as an inclusive organisation where all employees of Humberside Fire & Rescue Service feel confident and comfortable at work.”
Deborah Garlick, CEO and Founder of Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace said, “I’d like to congratulate Humberside Fire & Rescue Service on achieving Menopause Friendly Accreditation in recognition of making such a positive impact within its workplace.”
This accreditation is a testament to our proactive approach and dedication to staff wellbeing.
By continuing these efforts, we strengthen not just our workplace but also our ability to serve the community with understanding and care.
