Every time we drive too fast, whether it's over the speed limit or too fast for the road conditions, we increase the risk of accidents and the chance that someone we care about, or others on the road, will be hurt or worse.

Why speed matters graphic

We all have a part to play in making our roads safer, and this Road Safety Week is an opportunity to think about our driving habits and the impact of our choices.

This winter we want to remind roads users of:

  • Follow speed limits, which are there to keep everyone safe.
  • Adapt to road conditions and give yourself extra time and space to stay safe.
  • Make sure your vehicle's tyres, brakes, and lights are in good working condition.
  • When walking in darker mornings and evenings, wear reflective clothing or accessories to be seen by others on the road.

Let's work together to keep our roads safe for everyone.
