Today marks a significant milestone for our fire service as we celebrate the final Passing Out Parade during the Service’s 50th anniversary year. This event honours the exceptional dedication and hard work of our newest staff, who have successfully completed their training and probationary periods. We are delighted to welcome three Fire Control Operators, 10 Fire Staff, 16 Full-Time firefighters, and seven On-Call firefighters into our Humberside Fire family.

Our newest team members have undergone rigorous preparation to equip them with the vital skills required for their roles. Whether developing lifesaving techniques, mastering operational expertise, or enhancing the behind-the-scenes systems that keep our Service running smoothly, they have demonstrated exceptional commitment, teamwork, and proficiency; qualities that embody the values of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighter Pearson and Firefighter Craft-Watson received the distinguished honour of a silver axe from our Training Instructors, acknowledging their exceptional performance and unwavering determination.

The newest members of our On-Call team will be serving at the following stations:

  • Cleethorpes
  • Crowle
  • Bridlington
  • Withernsea
  • Beverley
  • Epworth

Chief Fire Officer Phil Shillito warmly welcomed all staff, saying, “Today is a remarkable occasion as we celebrate the beginning of careers that bring not only challenges and responsibilities but also immense pride and purpose. I am deeply inspired by the dedication, passion, and resilience shown by everyone throughout their journey. Their hard work is a testament to the values we uphold as an organisation.”

He added, “Each and every member of our team is integral to keeping the communities across the Humber region safe. From ensuring the wellbeing of vulnerable individuals to responding to emergencies, every role within our Service contributes to our mission. The values and behaviours enshrined in our Core Code of Ethics guide us in every action, helping us build trust and make a positive impact.”

“As we conclude our 50th anniversary year, it is a privilege to welcome these outstanding individuals into our fire family. The pride and satisfaction of serving our community alongside such an extraordinary team cannot be overstated. I wish all our new staff a long, fulfilling, and rewarding career with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.”
