A recent On-Call response from Goole Fire Station was crewed entirely by firefighters from the local Polish community for the first time. Highlighting the ongoing efforts of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service to encourage people to support their community by becoming On-Call firefighters.

Reflecting the Service’s commitment to inclusivity, recruiting from across the community makes sure that local knowledge, language skills, and cultural awareness enhance the service provided to residents. On-Call fire stations continue to welcome local people who are interested in making a difference by joining the team.
For On-Call Crew Manager Anna Brzezinska and On-Call Firefighters, Medzelewski, Decyk and Sicinski, being part of the crew is a source of pride. Anna said: "I’ve always wanted to give back to the community, and being an On-Call firefighter allows me to do just that. The support and training from the Service has been outstanding, and I’d encourage anyone considering it to find out more.
It’s inspiring to see more residents stepping up to serve their community, and we hope this motivates others to join our On-Call team. The knowledge that you’re making a real difference, that’s what matters most to me."
Our On-Call firefighters do the same emergency work as Full-Time firefighters, but they can also have other jobs too. While on duty, they carry a pager, which activates when they need to attend an incident. If you live or work within five minutes of Goole Fire Station, and other On-Call fire stations you could be eligible to join.
