Humberside Fire and Rescue Service were called to a house fire in Hull this morning where sadly two people lost their lives.

A 999 call was received from a neighbour at 07.49 and three engines were sent to the house in Wensley Avenue off Cottingham Road. On arrival breathing apparatus crews entered the building and located the male adult and young girl.

The adult male was pronounced dead at the scene and the ten year old girl was passed into the care of paramedics, but died later in hospital.
