The Jean Bishop Integrated Care Centre has won the Innovation in Health & Social Care award, following last night's (18 October) Health and Care Awards 2018 ceremony, hosted by Hull Daily Mail.

This is the third awards ceremony hosted by the publication, which first gathers nominations from members of the public in order to celebrate local health heroes. Nominations are then sifted by a panel of top health judges, including representatives from Hull CCG and Hull and East Yorkshire Mind.

The Centre brings together services from across the city, including Humberside Fire & Rescue Service, and is already treating 12,000 frail older people in the city by a team of geriatricians, having officially opened just a few months ago in July.

The mission of the Integrated Care Centre (ICC) is to help provide out of hospital care, reducing unnecessary hospital admissions, enabling residents to keep fit, healthy and living independently in their own homes.

Humberside Fire & Rescue Service has an operational fire station on site and provides a falls response team as well as responding to other fire and rescue incidents.

NHS Hull CCG said: "We are thrilled that the Jean Bishop Integrated Care Centre has won the Innovation in Health & Social Care award, and our collaboration with partners including Humberside Fire & Rescue is already having a huge impact on patients' lives."
