Today we congratulate and welcome 13 Full-Time firefighters to the Humberside Fire family, as they successful complete our first Full-Time Recruits Course of 2023.
Today, they showcased their firefighting and life-saving in front of family and friends. These include their knowledge of fire ground skills, working at heights, using breathing apparatus and immediate emergency care, and many more.
Throughout the recruit’s course, they demonstrated skill in a wide array of key areas such as fire ground techniques, working at heights, breathing apparatus and providing immediate emergency care, and much more. Their commitment and competence are commendable, and one outstanding individual, Firefighter Andrew Black, was honoured with a silver axe by our Training Instructors in recognition of their exemplary performance and unwavering attitude throughout.
Chief Fire Officer Phil Shillito expressed his appreciation for the vital role every firefighter plays in safeguarding our communities; “The pride and satisfaction in serving the community and being part of this incredible team cannot be underestimated.
Our Ethical Principles, which reflect the Core Code of Ethics for Fire and Rescue Services, are what make us who we are as an organisation, and this is why the public holds us in high regard. We must all continually strive to build on the trust placed upon us, whether in a vulnerable person's home, helping them to be safe, or involved in rescuing someone from the worst moment of their life.”
Today marks the start of a career that promises both challenges and fulfilment, accompanied by great responsibility. I am so very proud of the hard work our recruits have done and watch them pass out from the recruits course.”
