A message from HR

Concerned about sharing your news?

If you’re pregnant and unsure about sharing the news with your line manager, please be assured that you will be supported at every stage. We understand this can feel like a sensitive time, and it’s important to know not only do you have our word that we are committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive environment where you can feel confident discussing your pregnancy, you are also protected under the Equality Act 2010. This legislation makes it unlawful for any employer to treat you unfairly because of pregnancy or maternity leave. All HFRS staff behave in line with our own Core Code of Ethics, within which we commit to treating people with dignity and respect, creating equal opportunities and acting with integrity. Our Strategic Plan further outlines that a key objective is to enable a positive and inclusive workplace culture and Above all else we believe your wellbeing matters, and we are here to support you.

If you feel you have been or are being treated in a way that is not in line with the above, please see the following reporting routes you can consider:

  • Contacting your line manager or a more senior manager
  • Contacting your HR Service Partner – see who yours is
  • Workplace Wellbeing Manager and Other Support Resources can be found on our SharePoint page
  • Grievance Policy
  • Conduct Policy
  • Freedom to Speak Up
  • Whistleblowing Policy

The handbook does not currently cover fostering or kinship arrangements therefore if you are seeking support in relation to these, please contact HR by email: HR@humbersidefire.gov.uk
