Pregnancy key dates and checklist
- Week 1 to 12: Consider early notification, especially risk critical roles. Complete risk assessment with line manager.
Examples of risk critical roles include:
- All Operational Roles.
- Any role that requires lifting, climbing ladders or other physical activities.
- Any role that may be high pressure or stress and effect mental wellbeing.
- Week 12: By this week, your initial risk assessment should have been completed. This should be done when you notify your line manager.
- Week 20 to 24: You should request your MATB1 at your next antenatal appointment.
- Week 25: This is when you should inform your line manager about your pregnancy at the latest. Your MATB1 should be sent through to HR at your earliest convenience, this will start the maternity leave process.
- Week 27: A review should be done to your initial risk assessment when entering your second trimester.
- Week 29: By this week you should have returned all documentation to HR to confirm your dates.
- Week 30: You should have received your confirmation letter with your maternity dates requested. Your line manager should now input these dates on to the required systems.
- Week 35: Ensure that you’ve discussed the anticipated start and end date of your maternity leave and your accrual of annual leave with your line manager. We appreciate this may be subject to change.
- Week 36: If, after the fourth week before the expected week of childbirth, you are absent from work wholly or partly because of reasons relating to pregnancy, this will automatically trigger your maternity leave.
- Week 40: Your due date!
